When you volunteer your time at St. Joseph's, the rewards, smiles and personal gratifications are yours every day.

Since 1965, over 3,500 people have given their time and talents assisting the hospital's staff. Their contribution to caring and healing can best be measured in the personal satisfaction they've received by helping others.

St. Joseph's Volunteer Program is open to men, women, boys and girls - 14 years of age who have completed the eighth grade. Volunteers are needed evenings and weekends as well as daytime hours.

How you can become a volunteer at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg, West Virginia.

First, fill out and return the Volunteer application form. The Volunteer Services Staff will contact you to schedule a personal interview and will also arrange an orientation and any additional training sessions you may need.

What you can do to help.

The Volunteer Services Staff works closely with each volunteer to match the interests, skills and experiences of the individual with the needs of the hospital.

Volunteer Services include:

Patient Services: Providing personal assistance to patients, visiting with patients, delivering mail and flowers, assisting with meals.

Clerical and Messenger: Performing clerical activities, answering telephones, making deliveries, filing and collating.

Information: Staffing the Information Desk, greeting visitors, patients and families, providing information, accompany patients to areas throughout the hospital, and staffing the SICU/MICU and CVICU Waiting areas.
