General information Colcemid is a commonly used reagent in chromosomal assays, acting as a mitotic inhibitor. Colcemide acts by depolymerizing the microtubules and preventing the formation of a dividing spindle. This stops cell division at the metaphase stage. This allows easy separation of metaphase chromosomes for subsequent cytogenetic analysis. ‎ Component composition and characteristics Colcemid (10 µg / ml) in DPBS solution ( phosphate-buffered saline). ‎ Shelf life and stability Shelf life is 24 months from the date of manufacture when stored from +2°C to +8°C.
