Visiting Hours and Guidelines
VISITOR RESTRICTIONS
IN EFFECT
Effective beginning Saturday, October 24, 2009
As a precaution in response to the influx of the flu virus in the area, the following visitation restrictions will be in effect beginning Saturday, October 24, 2009, for Camden-Clark, St Joseph’s, Marietta Memorial and Selby General hospitals. These restrictions will remain in effect at all four hospitals until further notification.
The number one concern is the health and well being of our community. Each hospital wants to ensure we provide the best possible care for to our patients and to maintain healthy caregivers on staff. We have coordinated these restrictions with the various health departments and appreciate the community’s assistance in following these restrictions.
1. No visitors under the age of 18.* Facilities with teen volunteers will be restricted from being in patient rooms or providing direct patient care.
2. Only 2 visitors will be allowed to visit any patient at a time.*
3. Any visitor who is experiencing the flu or flu-like symptoms should not visit any patient.
4. Visitors to patients with suspected H1N1 virus will be required to follow droplet standard precautions:
· The patient will be placed in a private room if possible.
· If a private room is not available, confirmed influenza patients will be placed with other confirmed influenza patients.
· Visitors and caregivers will wear a mask when entering the patient’s room. The mask is to be removed only after leaving the patient’s room.
· A mask will be placed on all patients prior to transport.
· Visitors, caregivers and patients will be required to wash their hands as appropriate.
We appreciate your cooperation as we work together to stay healthy during this flu season.
* The only exception, at all facilities, will be based on extreme extenuating circumstances (i.e. passing of a loved one).
Previous Visiting Guidelines
General patient visiting hours are from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm daily. All children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Patients are permitted a maximum of 2 visitors at a time.
Some areas of the facility may further restrict access based on patient need and census (for example, SICU, CVICU and MICU.)
An overhead announcement is made daily 1/2 hour before visiting hours end. Overnight visitors are required to obtain an overnight visitor's pass from the Security Staff at the main desk between the hours of 8:00 pm and 9:00pm. The pass must be worn where it is visible to hospital staff. Security personnel will notify the unit when a patient has an overnight visitor signed in.
It is our goal to provide adequate and necessary access to patients so as not to inhibit the patient's rest, healing and care given by the patient's healthcare team.
While rest is an essential part of a patient's treatment, we recognize that visits with family and friends are also important to recovery. Please observe the following visitor guidelines:
- Only 2 visitors to a patient are allowed at a time.
- Children must not be left unattended at any place in the hospital.
- Visitors are asked to dress appropriately when visiting the hospital. Shirts and shoes must be worn within the hospital.
